President Bola Tinubu has approved billions of Naira for the expansion of 12 River Basin projects across Nigeria, in a bid to boost irrigation farming and ensure food security.

The approval, announced by Musa Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, is a significant move to tackle hunger and starvation in the country.

According to Kwankwaso, the expansion will increase food production and address hunger nationwide. He praised President Tinubu’s commitment to agricultural development, particularly in the North.

“The approval for the expansion of the River Basins is a clear indication of President Tinubu’s commitment to the development of the country, especially the North,” Kwankwaso said.

In addition to the River Basin expansion, President Tinubu has also allocated N150 billion for the construction of a railway line in Kano City. The project is expected to revolutionize transportation and boost economic growth in the city.

The railway line is expected to improve the quality of life for residents in Kano City, positioning it as a hub for commerce and industry.

President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated a clear focus on infrastructure development, evident in the 2025 budget’s emphasis on revitalizing hospitals and investing in healthcare infrastructure.

The expansion of the River Basins and the construction of the railway line are expected to stimulate economic recovery and growth, while also improving the lives of Nigerians.
