The United States deported 135 migrants, including 65 minors, to Costa Rica on Thursday, as confirmed by the Costa Rican government. The flight, which originated from San Diego, California, landed at a base near Juan Santamaria International Airport. From there, the deportees were transported by bus to a migrant facility located about 360 kilometers (224 miles) away, near the Panamanian border.

According to Costa Rica’s Deputy Interior Minister Omer Badilla, the 65 children were accompanied by relatives, and all deportees had no criminal records. The group of migrants came from various countries, including Afghanistan, China, Iran, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Vietnam, Jordan, Kazakhstan, and Ghana.

Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala have agreed to temporarily host migrants expelled by the U.S. until they are repatriated or relocated to other countries. Last week, 299 migrants were deported to Panama, with around 100 being transferred to the San Vicente refugee camp in the Darien jungle province.
