The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned seven-hour power outage in parts of Abuja, scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025.
According to a statement released by the General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the power outage is necessary to facilitate annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The affected areas include the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, Asokoro, Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, Apo Mechanic, and surrounding areas.
The TCN explained that the maintenance is unavoidable, as Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to receive bulk power supply from the affected transformers during the maintenance period.
The company apologized for any inconvenience caused to the affected customers during this time and assured that power supply will be restored once the maintenance exercise is completed.
The power outage is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days.
