Clint Hill, the Secret Service agent who famously protected First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy during President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, has died at the age of 93.

Hill’s heroic actions on November 22, 1963, have become an iconic part of American history. He jumped onto the president’s car to shield Jacqueline Kennedy, trying to keep her safe.

The Secret Service praised Hill for his dedication and service. “Clint Hill was a hero who served with unwavering dedication and exceptional service,” the agency said in a statement.

Hill worked for five U.S. presidents, including Kennedy. He saw many important events in American history, including the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Hill had to retire early because the assassination affected him deeply.
