The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) on Saturday recognized the strength and resilience of women living with HIV. The agency emphasized its commitment to ensuring that every woman, regardless of her HIV status, has access to healthcare, dignity, and the respect she deserves.

Dr. Temitope Ilori, Director-General of NACA, shared the message to mark this year’s International Women’s Day, with the theme “Accelerate Action.”

International Women’s Day is celebrated globally to honor the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and girls. It also serves as a reminder of the progress made in advancing women’s rights and the ongoing work needed to ensure their full participation in all areas of society.

Dr. Ilori stated, “On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women living with HIV. You not only face the challenges of the virus but also stigma, discrimination, and systemic barriers. Yet, you continue to rise, fight, and demand your rightful place in the world.”

“You are mothers, daughters, sisters, leaders, advocates, and warriors. You reject being silenced and defined by HIV. You are breaking barriers, fighting stigma, and transforming lives—yours and those of many others who look to you for hope and inspiration.”

He added, “Today, we do not just celebrate you—we stand with you. We fight with you. We are committed to a future where every woman, regardless of her HIV status, has access to healthcare, dignity, and respect. Your voice matters. Your life matters. And your strength is unstoppable.”
