U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to implement a travel ban targeting nationals from 43 countries. According to a report by Reuters on Saturday, which cited an internal memo and sources familiar with the matter, the proposed ban divides the countries into three groups: red, orange, and yellow.

Although the list is yet to be finalized by the Trump administration, it includes several African nations, but notable African economic powers like Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, and Egypt are not on the list.

  • Red Group: 11 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Cuba, Bhutan, Venezuela, North Korea, Yemen, and Somalia, whose citizens would be completely barred from entering the U.S.
  • Orange Group: 10 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Pakistan, Laos, Turkmenistan, Haiti, and Eritrea, whose visa access would be heavily restricted.
  • Yellow Group: 22 countries, such as Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, and Zimbabwe, are given 60 days to resolve concerns regarding their visa protocols.

This proposal, part of Trump’s broader immigration crackdown, follows his administration’s efforts since his second term began in January.

The New York Times was the first to report on the list, though a U.S. official told Reuters that the list is still subject to change and requires final approval, including from Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
