UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stance on a potential ceasefire with Ukraine, calling his promises “hollow” as allies of Kyiv prepare for a summit in Paris on Thursday.
“Unlike Ukrainian President Zelensky, Putin has proven he’s not a serious participant in these peace talks,” Starmer remarked.
He added, “Despite the good faith participation from all sides, Putin continues to undermine the agreed naval ceasefire in the Black Sea, while relentlessly attacking the Ukrainian people. His promises are meaningless.”
Starmer also emphasized that the United States is playing a key role in leading the ceasefire talks and highlighted the European commitment to defending Ukraine’s future. “Now it’s Putin’s turn to demonstrate his willingness to engage,” Starmer concluded.
