PwC Nigeria has donated N9 million to five charities focused on health, education, and social inclusion, marking a key milestone in its eighth annual 5for5 Charity Drive. This initiative underscores PwC’s commitment to societal impact, in line with PwC Africa’s broader mission and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
According to a statement from PwC, the donation was presented by firm representatives in Lagos and Abuja, where they engaged with the organizations and learned about their contributions to the community. The beneficiaries were selected through a voting process involving PwC staff, with funding raised via voluntary contributions from employees and partners.
Obioma Ubah, Corporate Responsibility Partner at PwC Nigeria, emphasized the importance of the 5for5 initiative in supporting impactful organizations that align with the company’s core values. “For eight years, 5for5 has enabled us to assist charities that are effecting real change in health, education, and social inclusion. This year’s beneficiaries are making a significant impact, and we are proud to support them,” said Ubah.
The 2024 recipients of the PwC 5for5 Charity Drive include:
- Advocates for Health and Rights of Women and Youths Initiative (Lagos)
- Cerebral Palsy Centre (Lagos)
- Akoka Study Centre (Lagos)
- Patrick Stephen Purple Heart Foundation for Widows (Lagos)
- Darlez Care Orphanage Home (Abuja)
Each charity received N1.8 million and is committed to continuing its essential work, ranging from advocating for women’s rights to providing care for children with cerebral palsy and supporting the academic and moral development of young men.
During their visits, PwC representatives interacted with the beneficiaries to understand their operations better and discuss potential future collaborations. The firm highlighted its commitment to long-term partnerships as a means of fostering sustainable societal transformation.
