My Policies Will Never Change – Trump Stands Firm on Tariffs

President Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to his tariff policies on Friday, asserting that they will remain unchanged despite the recent decline in U.S. stock markets.

“To all investors pouring money into the United States, my policies will never change,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Now is the perfect time to get richer than ever!”

On Wednesday, Trump introduced tariffs on major U.S. trading partners, triggering a sharp market selloff and threats of retaliation. China responded by announcing a 34% tariff on U.S. imports, set to take effect on April 10, with the European Union expected to follow suit.

Trump criticized China’s reaction, writing, “China played it wrong, they panicked – the one thing they cannot afford to do!”

He framed the tariffs as a necessary step to reset trade relations, arguing that the U.S. has been “looted, pillaged, raped, and plundered by nations, both friends and foes alike.” Despite previous failures of similar policies, Trump maintains that his tariffs will bring manufacturing jobs back to America.

The White House marked the tariff announcement as “Liberation Day,” hosting an event in the Rose Garden. However, markets were hit hard, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 1,700 points on Thursday—its worst day since March 2020.

On Friday, Trump pointed to a positive March jobs report, which showed the U.S. added 228,000 jobs, as evidence that his policies were “already working,” though the data predated the tariff announcement.

“Hang tough, we can’t lose!!!” Trump urged.
