The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with other agencies, welcomed 203 stranded Nigerians returning from Libya on Monday.

According to a statement shared via NEMA’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Cargo Terminal, Lagos, around 7:00 p.m. aboard a chartered Al Buraq Boeing flight, with registration number 5A-BAC.

The group included 50 men, 96 women, 29 children, and 28 infants. The return operation was coordinated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) with support from NEMA, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Port Health Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.

Two of the returnees required medical attention and were immediately transferred to New Ikeja Hospitals for treatment.

After undergoing mandatory profiling and biometric registration, the returnees were relocated to the Igando Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) resettlement centre for further reintegration assistance.
