A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in South Africa, Bola Babarinde, has urged African countries to seize the opportunity presented by President Donald Trump’s perceived harsh policies.
Speaking in a statement made available to the press, Babarinde suggested that the planned deportation of Africans living in the US illegally could be seen as a chance for Nigeria to reassess its approach to diaspora engagement.
According to Babarinde, the government should develop programs to support returning citizens and provide resources and opportunities for them to integrate into the economy.
He also identified key areas that the government should focus on to promote growth and development, including diaspora engagement, medical research, automobiles, agriculture, education, and infrastructure.
By focusing on these areas, Babarinde believes that Nigeria can transform the challenges posed by Trump’s policies into opportunities for growth, development, and self-sufficiency.
The APC chieftain’s comments come as the Nigerian government continues to navigate the implications of Trump’s policies on the country.
