Senator Barau Jibrin, First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a “beacon of inspiration” for West Africa.
Barau made these remarks on Monday during the opening ceremony of the 2025 First Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Lagos.
He commended President Tinubu, also the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, for his dedication to regional stability, economic integration, and democratic governance.
In a statement titled *”ECOWAS Parliament’s 1st Deputy Speaker, Barau, Applauds President Tinubu’s Commitment to West African Stability and Economic Integration,”* signed by Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau said, “President Tinubu’s leadership has paved the way for a more prosperous and resilient West Africa. The ECOWAS Parliament remains deeply grateful for his continued support and guidance.”
He emphasized that Tinubu’s strategic vision has bolstered regional solidarity and strengthened confidence in the collective aspirations of West Africa. “His leadership is a pillar of progress and cooperation, inspiring confidence in the realization of our shared regional goals,” Barau added, noting that the president’s contributions serve as a model for effective regional governance.
Barau also expressed gratitude to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for hosting the session, stressing the importance of collaboration to achieve regional goals.
“Through our joint efforts and decision-making, we can strengthen our region and advance prosperity and progress,” Barau remarked. “Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to unity, cooperation, and development.”
