Canada has announced it will impose a 25% tariff on certain vehicles imported from the United States in response to tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which took effect on Thursday.
Prime Minister Mark Carney revealed the decision, stating that the new tariff would apply to all vehicles imported from the U.S. that do not comply with the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
Carney did not provide specific details on how many vehicles would be affected by this measure, but emphasized that the move was “focused and calibrated.”
