The Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched its 2025 Annual National Food Intervention Project, valued at N16 billion, aiming to provide aid to one million Nigerians across the country.

The announcement was made by the Foundation’s Chairman, Aliko Dangote, at an inaugural ceremony in Kano on Thursday, where he was represented by his daughter, Marya Aliko-Dangote. This annual initiative seeks to address the economic difficulties currently affecting the nation.

As part of the project, one million 10kg bags of rice will be distributed to the most vulnerable individuals in all 774 Local Government Areas of Nigeria. Dangote emphasized that the foundation is working with state governments to ensure the food reaches those most in need.

“This initiative reflects our core values of compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility,” Dangote stated. “Our focus is on improving the living conditions of Nigerians through projects that tackle hunger, water supply, and support health and education, as well as empower communities economically.”

He urged other businesses and industrialists to join efforts in combating hunger and poverty, complementing government actions through public-private partnerships.

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf, represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam-Gwarzo, praised the foundation’s contribution, noting that the aid would help alleviate hardships, especially during Ramadan. The state government has established a committee to oversee the fair distribution of food.

Zouera Youssoufou, the Managing Director of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting societal development and combating poverty.

Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen, the Deputy Commander-General of Hisbah Board in Kano, also commended the initiative and pledged the board’s involvement in ensuring the products reach the designated beneficiaries.
