Notable personalities and dignitaries gathered in style for the opening of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliamentary Seminar on Monday, March 3, 2025. The event, themed “ECOWAS at 50, Parliament at 25: Reflections on the Community Parliament Toward Achieving Regional Integration,” commemorated two major milestones: the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS and the 25th anniversary of the ECOWAS Parliament.

Guests showcased Nigeria’s vibrant cultural heritage through their traditional attire, including elegant dresses, kaftans, and agbadas. The event was a display of fashion, as attendees made bold statements through their clothing, reflecting the rich diversity of the nation’s culture.

The hall was alive with vivid colors, a testament to Nigerian fashion creativity. Chiefs, dressed in white garments with traditional beads and walking sticks, brought a sense of regality to the occasion.

In his keynote address, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, underscored the importance of reflection and collaboration in achieving regional integration. He stated, “This calls on all of us to reflect on our journey thus far, to celebrate our achievements, and to work together to chart a course for the future. It reminds us that regional integration is not just a political and economic endeavor; it is a moral imperative, a commitment to the wellbeing and prosperity of every citizen.”
