ECOWAS Permanent Representation in Mali Extends Educational Support to Kalabanbougou Public School

Bamako, Mali –

In a commendable display of regional solidarity, the ECOWAS Permanent Representation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Malians Abroad and African Integration and the Ministry of National Education, distributed 250 school kits to the students of Kalabanbougou Public School in Commune IV of the Bamako District.

The initiative, aligned with the Economic Community of West African States’ commitment to fostering sub-regional cooperation, was executed on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. The distribution aimed to support Mali’s educational progress and further its integration into the regional and African context.

Addressing the gathering, His Excellency Mr. Màrio Gomes Fernandes, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Mali, highlighted the symbolic significance of the gesture, portraying ECOWAS’s steadfast commitment to assisting Mali. He encouraged students to value and utilize the provided learning tools effectively.

Mr. Tahirou SIDIBE, the General Delegate for African Integration, representing the Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration, emphasized the substantial relief the donation brings to parents, particularly those with displaced students. He underscored the positive impact such initiatives have on enhancing ECOWAS’s standing within local communities.

The school kits, consisting of backpacks, notebooks containing information about the West African community, pens, pencils, rulers, and water bottles, were presented in the presence of political and traditional authorities, education officials, and parents. The community expressed widespread satisfaction and appreciation for the donation, acknowledging its symbolic value and ECOWAS’s commitment to supporting education in Mali.

As the event concluded, attendees extended their gratitude to the donor, the ECOWAS Representation, and its partners, urging the continuation of such initiatives to elevate the overall quality of education in Mali. The ECOWAS Permanent Representation’s proactive engagement reflects a broader commitment to solidarity and regional advancement.
