Dr. Onyema, the CEO of Air Peace Limited, has lauded the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport for its advanced facilities and operational efficiency, calling it one of the best globally. Onyema, who arrived at the airport on Saturday around 10 a.m. aboard a Boeing 737 with a 120-passenger capacity, praised the airport’s apron, runway, and terminal, describing them as both “highly functional and aesthetically pleasing.”
In a statement to the media after his arrival, Onyema highlighted the airport’s preparedness for both international and domestic flights, positioning it as a key infrastructure for the region’s economic and social development. He further emphasized the airport’s potential to become a major player in Nigeria’s aviation sector, noting that it is capable of accommodating larger aircraft, such as the Boeing 777.
The Air Peace CEO expressed his willingness to partner with the airport once it commences commercial operations and expressed optimism about its future as a hub for pilgrims and travelers nationwide. “This is the first time a Boeing 737 has landed here, and as an aviator, I can confidently say that this is one of the best airports in the world. We need to stop neglecting our own,” Onyema said.
Mr. Sunday Makinde, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on the Airport Project, commented that the successful landing of a Boeing 737 was clear evidence that the airport was ready for full commercial operations. He added that the milestone demonstrated the airport’s ability to handle large aircraft and provide smooth aviation services.
In his remarks, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, described the airport as a transformative project for the state, emphasizing that the Boeing 737’s successful landing was a reflection of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to boosting infrastructure, economic growth, and connectivity.
