The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has closed Runway 18R/36L at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for rehabilitation.

The closure, which began at 3 am on Monday, is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the runway remains in optimal condition.

According to FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the closure is due to ongoing rehabilitation work on the A2 Taxiway link of the runway.

“The rehabilitation work is necessary to maintain the integrity and safety of the runway,” Orah said.

Orah assured that there will be no disruption to flight operations, as all flights will be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R.

“The alternative runway is fully operational and equipped to handle all flight operations,” she said.

FAAN emphasized its commitment to the safety, security, and comfort of airport users.

“The authority is working tirelessly to ensure that all airport facilities are in good condition and meet international standards,” Orah said.

The rehabilitation work is expected to be completed soon, and the runway will be reopened to flight operations.

In the meantime, passengers and airport users are advised to follow instructions from airport officials and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
