The Federal Government of Nigeria extended its heartfelt congratulations to Ghana on the occasion of its 68th Independence Anniversary. The message was delivered by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who conveyed best wishes to Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Samuel Ablakwa on Thursday.
The statement, signed by the Ministry’s spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, highlighted Ghana’s remarkable progress in strengthening its democracy, fostering economic growth, and promoting peace in the West African region since its independence in 1957. This achievement, the statement noted, has served as an inspiration not only to Nigeria but to the entire African continent.
Nigeria emphasized the deep-rooted friendship and bilateral ties with Ghana, built on shared history, cultural bonds, and a common vision for a prosperous and united Africa. Furthermore, the statement reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to advancing cooperation with Ghana in areas such as trade, education, security, and regional integration.
Both nations are also expected to continue their collaboration within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and in support of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 goals.
The Nigerian government concluded by expressing hopes for Ghana’s continued peace, prosperity, and success.
