The Federal Government of Nigeria welcomed Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Parrilla, on Sunday during his official visit, which underscores the enduring and robust bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Cuba, founded on mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed by acting spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, highlighted the historic partnership between the two nations, especially their collaborative efforts in fighting apartheid and supporting liberation movements across Africa, which contributed to the independence of several African countries.
The Cuban minister is set to meet with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, to discuss opportunities for enhancing cooperation in areas like healthcare, education, agriculture, science and technology, and cultural exchange.
The two countries will also explore expanding collaboration within multilateral frameworks to address global challenges and promote sustainable development.
During his visit, Parrilla will meet with Nigerian Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima to deliver a special message from Cubaās government. He will also hold discussions with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Both Nigeria and Cuba are members of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 plus China, sharing common perspectives on global issues such as peace, security, and sustainable development.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Cuba to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in both regions and worldwide.
