Betaminds Africa, a community of creative professionals, is set to launch a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering young Nigerian creatives and equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in the creative industry.
The founder of Betaminds Africa, Okunrotifa Ileriayo, highlighted the increasing opportunities for young talents to showcase their work globally due to the rise of digital technology and social media. He emphasized that pursuing a career in creativity could have a positive impact on Nigeria’s economy by curbing youth restiveness, fostering innovation, and boosting social stability.
“The creative industry is a key driver of economic growth and diversification,” Ileriayo stated. “Nigeria’s entertainment sector alone contributed over ₦400 billion to the country’s GDP in 2020. Creative exports such as music, film, and visual arts generate foreign exchange, reduce unemployment, and offer young Nigerians the opportunity to create jobs.”
However, despite the vast potential of the creative sector, young creatives in Nigeria face numerous challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, lack of funding, and unfavorable policies. Ileriayo stressed the importance of investing in arts education, copyright protection, and tax incentives to ensure sustainable growth.
To address these challenges, Ileriayo has partnered with several industry professionals to advocate for the growth of the creative sector. Betaminds Africa plans to launch its initiative in the second quarter of 2025, aiming to provide young creatives with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the creative field. The initiative will offer training, mentorship programs, workshops, and an online community where participants can collaborate and access valuable resources.
“Our goal is to inspire and empower Nigerian youth to build sustainable careers with their talents,” Ileriayo added. “By providing the right tools and opportunities, Betaminds Africa is paving the way for Nigeria’s next generation of creative professionals, contributing to the nation’s economic growth.”
By offering these resources, Betaminds Africa hopes to ensure that young Nigerians can fully realize their potential, bringing both personal and national growth.
