The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed a list of ambassadorial nominees circulating on social media, calling it false and misleading.
In a statement issued by Acting Spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the ministry clarified that the appointment of ambassadors remains the exclusive prerogative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He stated that no official list has been released to the public.
“We urge the public to ignore ongoing speculation about ambassadorial appointments,” the statement read. “The official list will be sent by President Tinubu to the National Assembly for screening and confirmation once the process is complete.”
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and assured that any valid updates will be shared through official channels.
This clarification comes amid growing public interest in diplomatic appointments following the recall of all Nigerian ambassadors in September 2023.
