The LAUMGA Foundation, the social service arm of the LAUTECH Muslim Graduates’ Association, has urged Muslims to embrace charity, generosity, and devotion throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement shared with PUNCH Online, the Foundation’s chairman, Qosim Sulyman, extended his Ramadan greetings to Muslims worldwide, highlighting the sacredness of the month as a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, and acts of charity.
“Ramadan is a blessed month that offers a unique opportunity to grow spiritually and extend kindness to others,” said Sulyman. “It’s a time to strengthen our relationships with family, community, and especially the less fortunate.”
He emphasized that Ramadan is more than fasting; it is a time for self-reflection and recommitting to the principles of Islam. Quoting from the Qur’an, he reminded fellow Muslims: “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you, that you may become righteous” (Al-Baqarah 2:183).
Sulyman also encouraged parents and guardians to involve their children in fasting, helping to instill faith and discipline at an early age. “Our children are the future. It’s essential to include them in these sacred practices and help them understand the significance of Ramadan,” he said.
In light of the world’s current challenges, the Foundation called for collective support for both the nation and individuals. Sulyman prayed for Nigeria’s prosperity and the guidance of its leaders during this critical time.
“As we embark on this blessed journey, let’s remember that our actions can make a difference, not only in our own lives but in the lives of our communities,” Sulyman concluded.
The LAUMGA Foundation is dedicated to improving the welfare of Muslim communities through initiatives focused on social services, healthcare, and education.
