Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the US has no authority to dictate Iran’s foreign policy. This comes after US President Donald Trump urged Tehran to end its support for Yemen’s Huthi forces. Araghchi emphasized that the time when Washington could dictate Tehran’s foreign policy ended in 1979 with the Islamic revolution.

In recent years, Iran’s foreign policy has undergone significant changes, shifting towards a more centralized, militarized, and authoritarian approach. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has gained considerable influence over foreign policy decisions, often prioritizing regional security and ideological interests over diplomatic engagement.

This shift has led to increased tensions with the US, particularly regarding Iran’s support for the Huthi rebels in Yemen. The US has launched military strikes against the Huthis, resulting in significant casualties, including children.

Iran’s foreign policy is expected to continue on this trajectory, with a focus on strengthening ties with Eastern powers and resisting Western pressures.
