Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have commended the leadership and legislative performance of Speaker Mojisola Meranda, praising her diligence and impact during her short tenure.
Meranda assumed office on January 13, 2025, after former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s removal, and has been lauded for her ability to lead effectively and foster a positive atmosphere in the Assembly.
Lawmakers like Aro Moshood and Kehinde Joseph have praised Meranda’s leadership, describing it as “positively life-transforming” and commending her resilience and humility.
“A few weeks ago, we were in a situation where we didn’t know what would happen next, but you came in and stabilised the House,” Moshood said.
Joseph added, “You have made history with your resilience and humility. Your time may be short, but you have written your name in gold.”
Other lawmakers echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Meranda’s dedication to legislative excellence and consensus-building.
They also acknowledged her efforts in maintaining order and stability within the House during a period of political uncertainty.
Despite speculation over Obasa’s possible return as Speaker, Meranda’s leadership has left a strong impression on her colleagues, who praised her for upholding the integrity of the House.
Meranda’s resignation was announced during a live plenary session, where lawmakers took turns to commend her leadership and legislative performance.
She expressed gratitude for the support she received during her tenure and assured that she would continue serving her constituents in Apapa Constituency 1 and Lagos State at large.
The lawmakers’ praise for Meranda reflects the high regard in which she is held by her colleagues, despite her relatively short tenure as Speaker.
