A Max Air plane carrying 53 passengers narrowly escaped disaster on Tuesday night when its tire burst during landing at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
In a statement, Max Air confirmed the incident, praising its crew for their professionalism in ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members.
The incident occurred at 10:57 p.m. when the plane, arriving from Lagos, lost its nose landing gear tire during landing. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The Kano runway has been temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, which may cause delays in flight operations on Wednesday.
This incident comes just weeks after a Max Air plane caught fire, forcing an emergency landing in Maiduguri. Over 100 passengers, including the Borno State Deputy Governor, escaped unhurt.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has ordered a thorough inspection of the airport runway. The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau has yet to comment on the incident.
