Dr. Babatope Agbeyo, Chairman of Gem Giant Ltd, has emphasized the importance of complying with regulations and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment rules in the mining sector.
Agbeyo made the call after signing a Community Development Agreement with the Faforiji Community in Osun State, where his company will be carrying out mining activities.
He also urged state governments to create an enabling environment for mining activities, which would benefit both the host community and the nation’s economy.
Agbeyo appealed to foreign investors to consider Nigeria as a viable investment destination, citing the country’s conducive, safe, and secure environment for mining operations.
The traditional ruler of the Faforiji community, Oba Adebayo Faforiji, praised Gem Giant Ltd for its commitment to responsible mining practices and community development.
Oba Faforiji expressed his community’s support for the mining project, saying it would bring economic benefits and improve the lives of community members.
Agbeyo assured the community that Gem Giant Ltd would operate in accordance with international best practices and ensure that the mining activities do not harm the environment or the community.
He also promised that the company would provide employment opportunities and training for community members, as well as invest in community development projects.
