In a significant development, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has initiated a strategic partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to expand health insurance coverage for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and other vulnerable populations in Nigeria.

This collaboration aims to provide financial protection and access to comprehensive healthcare services for PLHIV. The Director-General of NHIA, Dr. Kelechi Ohiri, emphasized the importance of strengthening health insurance to drive progress toward Universal Health Coverage.

NACA has also been working to ensure sustainable funding for HIV/AIDS response in Nigeria. In 2022, the agency launched the HIV Trust Fund, which aims to raise funds to support the national HIV/AIDS response.

These efforts demonstrate NACA’s commitment to combating HIV/AIDS in Nigeria and ensuring that people living with HIV have access to quality healthcare services.
