In a bid to mitigate the effects of climate change, the Nasarawa State Government has trained 200 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) owners on climate-smart practices.
The training, facilitated by the state’s Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA), aims to equip businesses with the necessary knowledge and tools to adopt climate-friendly practices, enhancing productivity while minimizing costs.
According to NASIDA’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the training is part of the development of a Climate Investment Platform for Nasarawa State, supported by the African Climate Foundation.
Abdullahi emphasized that adopting climate-smart business practices would greatly benefit SMEs, urging them to put their new skills into practice to boost their businesses.
The project consultant, Dr. Adnan Aminu, noted that most SMEs in the state were unaware of climate change’s impact on their businesses. The training aimed to inform SMEs about climate change realities and help them shift to more climate-smart business practices.
This initiative is a significant step towards promoting sustainable business practices in Nasarawa State and contributing to the global efforts to mitigate climate change.
