Nigeria is set to partner with the United Kingdom to build a resilient national cybersecurity architecture, facilitated by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

The partnership aims to enhance Nigeria’s digital infrastructure against evolving cyber threats, and is part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to economic transformation through digitalization.

According to Kashifu Inuwa, Director-General of NITDA, the agency’s Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) 2.0 is designed to enhance national cybersecurity resilience.

Inuwa emphasized the importance of cybersecurity awareness and education, noting that 95% of cyber breaches result from human errors.

The partnership with the UK will focus on several key areas, including cybersecurity awareness and education, emerging technologies, capacity building, and international collaboration.

The UK has expressed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s cybersecurity efforts, with a trade relationship valued at £7.5 billion.

Mark Smithson, Country Director of the Department of Business and Trade (DBT), UK, stated that the partnership aims to build a safe and resilient cyberspace for businesses, governments, and citizens alike.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s cybersecurity infrastructure and promote economic growth and development.
