Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal on Wednesday to “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip. Abbas’s office issued a statement expressing strong opposition to any attempt to seize Gaza or displace Palestinians from their homeland, emphasizing that “legitimate Palestinian rights are non-negotiable.”
In a broadcast on Palestinian public television, Abbas’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeina, reaffirmed that Gaza remains an integral part of the State of Palestine. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), led by Abbas, also condemned Trump’s suggestion of relocating Gazans to Egypt or Jordan, with PLO Secretary General Hussein al-Sheikh calling for the rejection of all such proposals to displace Palestinians from their land.
