US President Donald Trump revealed the first-ever “gold card,” a special residency permit priced at $5 million each, aboard Air Force One on Thursday. Trump held up a prototype of the card, which featured his face and the inscription, “The Trump Card.” He shared with reporters that the visa would likely be available in “less than two weeks.”

“I’m the first buyer,” Trump remarked, adding, “Pretty exciting, huh?”

The “gold card” is an upscale version of the traditional green card and is expected to attract job creators, potentially contributing to reducing the US national deficit. Trump previously mentioned that sales of the new visa could help bring in job creators.

This announcement comes as Trump, known for prioritizing the deportation of millions of undocumented migrants during his second term, indicated that the card would be a pathway to US citizenship. Back in February, the president said his administration aimed to sell “maybe a million” of these visas, with no objections to Russian oligarchs potentially being eligible for them.
