Vice President Kashim Shettima has pledged that the current administration will tackle corruption, fix the economy, and improve security in Nigeria. Speaking at the national conference on strengthening democracy in Abuja, Shettima emphasized the importance of democratic values and the need to address the country’s challenges.

Shettima acknowledged that democracy is not perfect, but it is still the best form of government. He assured Nigerians that the administration is committed to correcting the country’s economic defects, securing its citizens, and fighting corruption. He also stressed the need to strengthen the independence of the judiciary and improve national cohesion.

The Vice President appealed to Nigerians to join the administration in its efforts to build a better future for the country. He emphasized that the current administration has a major interest in the quality of the democratic system and a key responsibility in improving its elements.

Shettima’s speech was part of the national conference on strengthening democracy inAbuja, which was organized by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development. The conference aimed to reignite hope, rebuild trust, and lay out a roadmap towards a strengthened democratic system in Nigeria.

In a related development, former Ghanaian Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia emphasized the importance of democracy in guaranteeing individual liberties and rights. He noted that for democracy to thrive, the ambition for the country must supersede personal ambition.

The conference highlighted the challenges facing Nigeria’s democracy, including electoral malpractices, ineffective political parties, and pervasive corruption. However, it also emphasized the need for a genuine, resilient, and inclusive democracy that serves all Nigerians with integrity and accountability.
